Flux Level Reading of Legacy Floppy Disks
It took some time for 5.25″ and 3.5″ floppy disk to standardize on a recording method. The industry experimented with index pulses, motor speed, reverse recording, data density, and other optimizations. We read the magnetic flux on the floppy disc surface and then parse the recording format in software. This gives us the ability to read disks from the widest range of legacy computers.
